The Board of Directors

The Board of Directors comprises three members who have specific areas of responsibility based on their individual training and experience in addition to their normal responsibilities:

• Administration and Finance - For ease of operations each project uses centrally developed finance and administration procedures. Finances are audited externally to ensure full transparency and an identified director has specific responsibility for ensuring compliance.
• Operations and Logistics - An individual director is charged with ensuring that the operations are conducted ethically and in compliance with the principles of ISO 9000. An additional responsibility is to ensure that the logistics chain functions smoothly.
• Technical and standards - This director is charged with ensuring that de-mining operations are conducted safely and in accordance with international standards. Additional responsibilities are to ensure that standard operating procedures (SOP's) are generated and monitored for each operation and the maintenance of a comprehensive database of technically qualified personnel.

Professional Managers

Our Professional Management team consists of:

•  A full time Head of Operations
•  Project Managers

Head of Operations

Our Head of Operations, a former senior military engineer officer, heads our management team. He is a graduate MBA and graduate economist with extensive experience in the building of institutional capacity of national demining programmes. The Head of Operations is responsible for

• Global Management Co-ordination of Projects
• Leading the project management team
• Project feasibility and planning
• Financial Control of Projects
• International Liaison
• Quality Management Control
• Staff Welfare

Project managers

Specialist Gurkha Services UK Limited recognises the importance of good project management. For this reason, our project managers are chosen for their managerial and technical ability, qualifications and experience. Their qualifications and experience must be relevant to the project they are to lead. All our project managers must possess:

• Formal management qualifications from recognised institutions
• Relevant post qualifying operational experience
• Versatility and adaptability
• Cultural sensitivity
• Communication & training skills

Regional offices

Wherever possible, our Regional Offices are planned, established and developed with local partners. Together we grow these offices to implement world's "best-practice" in a form and manner which is aware of and responsive to local culture. The result is that our operations can be supported in almost all regions in the world.

At any of our demining programs anywhere in the world, management staff could comprise technicians from West Europe, East Europe, Nepal and Australia working together with local deminers towards a common goal - landmine eradication.
